Description of the genus

Shrubs or trees. Leaves petiolate, strongly 3-veined from the base. Stipules caducous. Flowers in leaf-opposed or axillary, 1-several-flowered cymes. Sepals 5, stellately-hairy on the outside. Petals 5, bright yellow, without glands. Stamens numerous; anthers dehiscing by terminal pores. Style simple; stigma simple. Fruit oblong-cylindric or fusiform, indehiscent, woody, longitudinally ribbed. Seeds discoid.

Worldwide: 2 species in tropical Africa
