Subshrubby or perennial herb, with glandular dots on all parts. Leaves alternate, entire or divided, without prickles. Inflorescence of terminal or axillary racemes or panicles. Flowers bisexual, 4-merous. Stamens 8. Ovary of 2 united carpels, sessile, 2-locular and prominently 2-lobed at apex. Style filiform. Fruit a capsule dehiscing by a slit. Seeds echinate. Worldwide: 6 species in SW N America, SW Africa (extending to Zimbabwe), Socotra, Saudi Arabia and Somalia Angola: 1 taxon. |
