Description:	Perennial herb growing from a creeping rhizome. Leafy shoot up to 20 cm tall; leaf lamina narrow, 15-18 x 2.5-3 cm, lanceolate, acute at apex ad narrowed acuminately at base into a petiole base above the sheath. Flowering stems few or solitary, erect from base of leafy shoot and exceeded by it. Flowers solitary or few, subtended at base by thinly papery bracts. Calyx 3.5 cm long, tube 1.8 cm long, lobes 1.9 cm long. Corolla brown-punctulate outside; petals subequal, 2.5-3 cm long, ovate to oblong; labellum very broad, 4 cm longer than petals, trilobed with all lobes irregularly erose-crenulate, lilac-pink.

Notes:	Despite being quite a common feature on Kalahari sandveld in the Moxico province, this species is not listed by Figueiredo & Smith in Strelitzia 22 (2008).
Derivation of specific name:	puncticulatus: dotted or marked with spots or glands, in reference to the corolla.
Habitat:	Miombo (Brachystegia) woodland on Kalahari sand.
